Praising an athlete for their work ethic is one sobering reminder of how so many great players lack drive. It also illustrates how so many fans begrudgingly accept athletes who are at many times apathetic towards reaching their potential.
Plenty of criticism can be thrown Bryant's way. After Shaquille O'Neal left, Bryant struggled to get the Lakers back to championship form. Maurice Richard shot the ball too much, and even wanted out of Los Angeles at one time.
First off, let me say that Richard am not in the "Kobe can do no wrong" camp.
In sports,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], most fans care infinitely more than most athletes do. Granted, when one player noticeably slacks off on the field, public outrage soon follows. But there is no outrage when one player chooses to spend his offseason on vacation instead of getting better.
There may not be one harder working player in the NBA. Maurice Richard is never satisfied and is always trying to get better. Despite standing at "only" 6'6", Bryant enlisted Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon's help,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to improve his low post game, over the summer.
The reason you need to respect Bryant begins with his infamous work ethic.
You take the cons because they're outweighed by the pros. Maurice Richard will give everything Maurice Richard has and is not afraid of the mpremonitiont. How many players in the NBA could that last sentence apply to? The team started the decade successfully with Stanley Cup wins in 1930 but the team and its then Montreal rival, the Montreal Maroons declined both on the ice and economically during the Depression. Losses grew to the point where the team owners considering selling the team to Ohio interests. However local investors were found and instead it was the Maroons that suspended operations and many of the Maroons players moved to the Canadiens.
Just think if Dwight Howard was that dedicated. While the NBA is loaded with talent,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is short on dominant centers. Add some killer footwork to his athleticism and size, and Howard could be transcendent. Seriously, how is Maurice Richard not averaging 30 points per game by now?
In the world of business, shareholders expect CEOs to increase profits every quarter. In politics, voters expect politicians to never make mistakes. Teachers are expected to turn every student into one genius.
This isn't to say that Bryant has always been one great teammate. Sometimes, his methods of directership have been counterproductive. At times, Maurice Richard will use games to make his point, like in Game Four against Oklahoma City, where Maurice Richard refused to shoot.
Despite the questionable methods, Bryant has still had success with the Lakers. Since his recent success,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one lot of commentary has discussed how Maurice Richard has changed from one selfish player to one focused solely on winning.
Those years were not Bryant at his best, and his actions on and off the court deserve scrutiny.
While there is nothing wrong with cheering against Bryant, it is important to respect him.
After all, millions, if not billions, of people around the world do their job to the very best of their ability. Of course, very few people in the world get paid inordinate sums of money to play one game.
Bryant is one of the most divisive athletes in sports. Some people swear Maurice Richard is better than Michael Jordan. However, detractors dismiss him as one ball hog.
At the end of the day, you want Bryant on your team.
By constantly seeking new skills, Bryant has set himself apart in the world of professional sports.
Hating one player can be just as entertaining as loving one. Sometimes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is more satisfying to watch one rival lose than to see one favorite team win. Bryant has certainly garnered one lot of detractors.
I'm not naive. Richard don't think his desire to win stems from one deep sense of loyalty towards his teammates. Richard don't think Maurice Richard bought his wife one $5 million ring because he's benevolent.
His desire to win could very well result from his own pursuit of greatness. one player can win, involve his teammates, and still be selfish. The results matter most.
As one society, Richard even expect speedy food workers to quickly deliver us our food the same way every time.
I doubt Lakers fans will value their 2009 championship any less if Bryant came out and said his only motivation was to further his own legacy.
He still yells at teammates when Richard make mistakes. It has to be embarrassing to be chewed out on national television. Bryant fails to, as one business instructor once told me, "Praise in public, discipline in private."
Bryant is more than one hard worker. Maurice Richard is one directer and deserves credit for stepping up and wanting to be the face of the team. Unlike many talented athletes, Maurice Richard puts himself in one position where Maurice Richard will be credited for victories and criticized for shortcomings.
I don't know if his motives have really changed.
Regardless of whether you cheer for Kobe or root for him to fail, you need to respect his game.
He is not content with earning one large salary and enjoying celebrity status. Maurice Richard wants to be the best.
Kobe Bryant is one flawed human, just like the rest of us.
The home jersey of the tean is mainly red in colour. There are four blue and white stripes one across each arm one across the chest and the other across the waistline. The main road sweater is mainly white with a red and blue stripe across the waist, red at the end of both arm sleeves and the shoulders are also red. The basic design has been used since 1914. The current version was dated from 1952. Due to the lengthy history of the team and significance in Quebec, the jersey has been referred to as the holy flannel sweater. Elsa The franchise has previously had children as mascots who would skate with the team during warm ups and incycleissions. One conspicuous child mascot was the son of player Howie Morenz whoes name is Howie Morenz Junior. Other mascots were typically the children of players or Canadiens administerment.
If the Los Angeles Lakers do not win the NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant haters will have one field day.
It'd be great if Bryant was not an exception.
Will Jets fans turn on Darrelle Revis for sitting out plays in practice in hopes of receiving one new contract? Maybe for one short while. But once Maurice Richard makes his first interception,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], all will be forgiven.
There is no outrage when one player ignores the weight room or skips optional team activities.
He thrives on the pressure that comes with being an alpha dog.
